8 Clouds — Tales for Lafcadio Hearn
Five artists and a guest answer Lafcadio Hearn in the Venetian church of Agios Rokkos, Splantzia. Evenings 19:30, free, to 13 Oct.
Lafcadio Hearn was born on Lefkada in 1850 and died in Tokyo as Koizumi Yakumo, a name that means 'eight clouds', and that is the thread of this small, thoughtful group show. Robert Barcia, Mizuki Imamura, Nanni Riccobono, Georgia and Drosia Tseri, with Alexandros Maganiotis as guest artist, work in drawing, painting, photography, mixed media and performance, and the curator, Konstantinos Th. Spyropoulos, has steered it away from biography towards memory, nature and the drift between Greece and Japan. The setting does half the work: the 17th-century Venetian church of Agios Rokkos on Splantzia square, a few steps from the plane tree. It opens every evening from 19:30, entry is free, and it closes on 13 October with a performance called Kokoro, so pair it with a drink on the square.
