Anoichtoi Orizontes — 5km Charity Run and Walk

A 5km run or brisk walk at Agioi Apostoloi with no timing and no ranking. €5, and you choose which charity gets it.

This is the friendliest race in the Chania calendar, largely because it refuses to be a race: 5km along Agioi Apostoloi with no chip, no clock and no finishing order. Entry is 5 euros and the unusual part is that you choose where it goes, naming any sports club, association or institution in the town you want to support. Arrival is from 15:30 and the start goes at 16:30, on the same afternoon as the 17th Yperkopeli charity triathlon at the same place, so the grove is busy all day and the two events share a crowd. A party follows. If you are not in Chania that Sunday there is a virtual entry open from 11 to 20 October, logged on a watch or a phone app. Families walk it, which is rather the point.
