Bouzoukia stin Pista — A 1980s Bouzouki Night

A loving send-up of the 1980s skyladiko: perms, shoulder pads and bouzouki, outdoors at Agia. Doors 21:30.

Vangelio Fasoulaki, Giorgis Manolakis and Thodoris Soukas resurrect the Greek nightclub of 1980, the era of hard lights, harder drinking and singers who bled every lyric. It is affectionate rather than mocking, and with an eight-piece band behind them it sounds properly enormous. Held outdoors at Morfes Live, the old Vareladiko out on the Chania to Sougia road at Agia, which is a twenty minute drive from town and worth the taxi. Two things to know before you book: the €15 ticket is entry only and does not include a drink, and there is a compulsory minimum of one standard bottle per four people, which is €100 per table.
