Chania Music Festival «4» — Grand Arsenal

Two nights of ambient, neoclassical and experimental music in and around the Grand Arsenal, half of it free.

The fourth Chania Music Festival is the city's quietly cosmopolitan one: ambient, neoclassical and experimental artists from Italy, Cyprus, Germany, the US and Greece playing the Grand Arsenal and the square outside it. Day one (12 Aug) opens with a free outdoor concert by Italian violinist Laura Masotto at 8:30pm on Katehaki Square, then Christina Vantzou & John Also Bennett inside the Arsenal at 10. Day two (13 Aug) has a free midday workshop with Christos Papageorgiou, then Valentini Loizou at 9pm and Papageorgiou again at 10. There's also a pre-festival night at San Salvatore on 26 July with diamat and port-royal. The free outdoor sets alone are worth planning an evening around.
