Market
Saturday Street Market — Minoos Street Laïkí
Chania's biggest weekly farmers' market, along the old western wall. Fruit, cheese, honey, olives, from 7am.
This is the big one, the Saturday laïkí that runs the length of Minoos Street along the old western fortification wall, and the market most visitors stumble into. Growers come down from the Akrotiri peninsula with fruit and vegetables picked that morning, alongside stalls of Cretan cheese, thyme honey, olives, raki and cut flowers. Come by 8am for the best pick and the real bustle; by 1pm the stalls start packing up. Bring cash and a cloth bag, and taste before you buy, the sellers expect it.
