Soap Making Workshop for Adults

Make glycerine soap from mould to packaging in one 2.5 hour evening. Four Monday sessions in October, €10.

The Municipality of Chania runs this as part of a programme recording the town's disappearing trades, the soap maker's among them, and the workshop is the hands-on half of that. Over two and a half hours you work with glycerine soap: designing and building your own mould, layering colours so the transparencies and textures shift through the block, choosing scents, and finally designing the packaging to match what you made. No previous experience is needed and each session is self contained, so you pick one Monday rather than committing to the series. It runs at the Russian Barracks, costs 10 euros, and you register in person at the Grand Arsenal, 08:00 to 20:00 on working days. Places are limited by the room, so do not leave it to the day.
