Colours of Silence: Paintings by Nikos Ketsetzis at Agios Rokkos
Self-taught painter Nikos Ketsetzis shows moonlit seas and red flowers in the Venetian church of Agios Rokkos. Daily 18:00-20:00, to 4 Nov.
A small, personal show in one of the old town's loveliest rooms: the Venetian church of Agios Rokkos on Splantzia Square. Nikos Ketsetzis is a self-taught painter, born in 1965 to a family with refugee roots in Smyrna and Cappadocia, who picked up a brush in 1992 during a stay in hospital in Chania and has painted every day since, often giving the work away to friends. The poster piece sets the tone: a night beach under a full moon, rocks and sand in browns and ochre, the sea in heavy blue strokes and bright red flowers breaking through. Open every evening from 18:00 to 20:00, from Monday 26 October to Wednesday 4 November, so it fits neatly before dinner in Splantzia.
