Free Lines: Paintings at the Grand Arsenal

Paintings by three refugees from Sudan, students at Chania's Second Chance School. Grand Arsenal, 15 to 25 Oct, free.

Three men from Sudan, students of the 2nd Second Chance School of Chania who are studying inside the town's detention facility, show their paintings in the Grand Arsenal on the old harbour. The exhibition's own words put it plainly: once they had a place they called home, then came the road, the sea, a boat, loss and prison, and now they paint, rebuilding a world without borders or bars. It is open from Thursday 15 to Sunday 25 October, weekdays 09:00 to 15:00 and 18:00 to 20:00, weekends 11:00 to 17:00, and entry is free. A small show, and worth ten quiet minutes between the harbour cafés.
