Imbros Gorge to Frangokastello — Family Hike with EOS Chania

The club's easiest walk of the season, run at a slow pace and open to parents with children. Swim at Frangokastello after.

Most of the mountaineering club's programme assumes you are fit and know what you are doing. This one does not. It is graded 1, the easiest they run, deliberately walked at a slow pace, and the club says outright that parents can bring their children along and make a family day of it. Imbros is the sensible sibling of the Samaria gorge: far shorter, far less crowded, and it has the better single moment in the Stenada, where the walls close to 1.6 metres apart and you walk through a slot in the rock. Afterwards everyone drives on to Frangokastello for a swim below the Venetian fort. Departure is 07:45 from the clubhouse on Tzanakaki 90, and registration opens on 21 September.
