Every Bench a Story — Pre-Festival Storytelling in the Municipal Garden

Kids paint wooden pallets into art in the Municipal Garden, then settle in for stories with live music. Free, no ticket needed.

A warm-up act for the bigger Children's Festival two and a half weeks later: on Wednesday 16 September the Municipal Garden hosts an evening of painting and storytelling, free and open to anyone who turns up. Children get plain wooden pallets and paint to turn them into colourful benches for the garden, then from 19:30 the City Storytellers association takes over with tales told to live music. It's organised jointly by Τερατάκια Τσέπης, the 3rd Chania Children's Festival and the Municipality, and it's exactly the kind of low-key, free evening that doesn't get onto the tourist radar but is worth building an evening walk around if you're in town with children.
