The second weekend of Kontylies' new season belongs to Giorgos Frantzeskakis, and his poster shows him with the violin rather than the lyra, which is the sound of Cretan dance music in the west of the island. Kontylies is the Cretan music room on Kydonias Street in the middle of town, where the tables are there to eat at and the floor is there to dance on. The night starts at 21:00 with food, drink and live music, and these evenings run late. Tables are by reservation on 698 677 6424; call ahead for a Saturday.
