A big Cretan panigyri in the Fres village square for the feast of Agios Fanourios, with Nikos Gonianakis live. €5 entry.

Fres, one of the greener Apokoronas villages near the Kournas road, holds its Agios Fanourios feast-day panigyri in the main square with Nikos Gonianakis singing live, billed on its own poster as a proper big Cretan panigyri rather than a support-act night, which for a village this size is a real draw. Entry is five euros and reservations go through 698 8720929. It starts at 21:30 on Thursday 27 August. Fres has some of the best plane-tree shade in Apokoronas, so arrive early and eat at one of the tavernas around the square before the music starts.
