Vlatos Jazz steps outside for a rare open-air night, in a field above Rogdia village with the Innachorio mountains falling away on every side. Haig Yazdjian's oud and voice weave through Maria Manousaki's quartet in one unbroken set of 75 to 90 minutes, meant to be heard whole, the way you would play a favourite album start to finish. It is a meeting of Armenian song and Cretan violin under a sky thick with stars, 5 km past Vlatos on the field by the old vulture observatory. Entry is just €5 and seats are limited, so reserve ahead online or by phone; you can pay cash at the field if you would rather.
