Inspector Drake and the Black Widow

David Tristram's daft detective comedy, one night only in the moat. In Greek, 100 minutes, €20 on the door.

One murder, sixteen suspects, and an inspector with no discernible talent for detection. British playwright David Tristram's spoof has been a reliable sell-out in Greece, and Vasilis Thomopoulos directs a cast of four (Marios Athanasiou, Valeria Kouroupi, Spyros Poulis and Alexandros Saouk) who play it broad and fast. This is the sort of thing the East Moat theatre is made for: stone walls, open sky, a big crowd laughing together on a hot night. Performed in Greek, so it is one for Greek speakers rather than a first stop for visitors without the language. It runs 100 minutes with an interval and it is here for one night only. Tickets are €20 general admission, sold at the box office.
