17th Kissamos Festival of Flavours & Arts

Nine nights of Cretan food, local producers, crafts and concerts on the Kissamos waterfront. 16–24 August, free.

For its 17th year, Kissamos turns its seafront over to the flavours and crafts of western Crete. Producers, cooperatives and cultural associations fill stalls along the coastal road west of the town stadium, with cheese, honey, oil, raki and home cooking to taste and take home. Every evening brings its own concert or cultural event on the same stage, and it is all free to walk in. It is the most local kind of night out: family-friendly, unhurried, and a genuine taste of the Kissamos countryside rather than a tourist show. Runs nightly, 16 to 24 August.
