Cretan-Pontic Gathering (Antamoma) — Paleochora

Two evenings where Crete meets Pontus: a dance show on the main street Saturday 19:00, then a kantada through the lanes Sunday.

The Selinos dance group Oi Seliniotes brings Cretan and Pontic tradition together for two evenings in Paleochora, co-organised with the Municipality of Kandanos-Selino and the Region of Crete. Saturday at 19:00 is the music and dance show "Kriti-Pontos" on the main street, with local dance groups, the Euxinos Club of Veria and the Chorotechno dance school, plus treats from the local associations; it doubles as the municipality's World Tourism Day celebration. Sunday at 19:00 revives the Cretan kantada, the old street serenade: musicians and dancers set off from the Petalo at Pachia Ammos beach and wind through the lanes of the village. Lefteris Mathioudakis and his band carry the Cretan side on both nights, with Akis Stoltidis, Konstantinos Kapourtidis and Vasilis Stefanidis on the Pontic songs.
