Cyanotype workshop for children

Kids aged 6 to 12 make sun-printed blue pictures from leaves and lace at the Russian Barracks, Sat 10 Oct, 11:00. Book from 5 Oct.

One of the oldest photographic techniques becomes a Saturday morning project at the Russian Barracks. Children aged 6 to 12 get a short introduction, pitched at their age, to the photographer's craft and to cyanotype, then arrange leaves, flowers, lace, thread and fabric on specially prepared paper and watch the light slowly bring up their own deep-blue prints. Sofia Vasileiadou leads the two-hour session, 11:00 to 13:00, part of the Municipality's programme on Chania's intangible heritage. Places must be booked with the Municipality's Culture Department on 28213 41613 on working days, and bookings open on Monday 5 October.
