A Bag, Differently: Free Plastic-Bag Upcycling Workshops at Rosikos Stratonas

For European Week for Waste Reduction, the Municipality of Chania and its waste-management company DEDISA are running a cycle of four three-hour workshops for adults at Rosikos Stratonas, the old Russian barracks. Led by Sofia Vasileiadou, each one opens with a short introduction to reuse, recycling and upcycling and then gets practical: you work used plastic bags into a new, hard-wearing material, then cut, combine and sew it into something useful, such as a small pouch, a case or a bag. No experience is needed and every tool and material is provided. Sessions run 17:00 to 20:00 on Mondays 2, 9 and 16 November and Wednesday 25 November. It is free, but places go in order of registration, by phone to the council's Culture Department on 28213 41613 from Monday 26 October.
