Mihály Víg in Concert at the Chania Film Festival
Béla Tarr's composer Mihály Víg plays a 45-minute set and is honoured on stage at the 14th Chania Film Festival. Mon 26 Oct, 20:00.
If you know Werckmeister Harmonies or Damnation, you know Mihály Víg's music: the Hungarian composer, musician and actor scored Béla Tarr's films for decades, and the 14th Chania Film Festival has built its tribute to Tarr, who died in January, around him. The centrepiece is this evening at the Cultural Centre: a 45-minute concert by Víg, an on-stage conversation with festival director Matthaios Frantzeskakis, and an award for his work. Around it the festival screens Werckmeister Harmonies on Fri 23 Oct, a portrait documentary of Víg on Sun 25 Oct at the Venizelio Conservatory, and Damnation on Tue 27 Oct. Hall A, Monday 26 October, 20:00.
