O Sozon Eafton Sothito — Eduardo de Filippo (Night 1)
Tamilla Koulieva's touring troupe brings de Filippo's backstage farce to the East Moat. In Greek.
Eduardo de Filippo wrote about theatre people better than almost anyone, and this is his warmest joke at their expense: Don Genaro drags his shabby company into a holiday town, and within a day the rehearsals, feuds, romances and misunderstandings have turned the whole quiet place upside down. Tamilla Koulieva translates and directs, and also plays in it, alongside Dimitris Papanikolaou and Danae Pappa. The East Moat under an August sky is the right room for a comedy about a troupe on tour. Performed in Greek, with no surtitles, so it is one for Greek speakers or for anyone happy to read the physical comedy instead.
