Traditional Strata in Agia Marina

The Municipality's walking celebration leaves town for Agia Marina, with dancers of every age.

The Strata spends most of its run inside Chania town, so the Agia Marina night is the one worth driving out for. The Akrotiri folk dance association KAGIALES leads it, walking with the children's section of the Chania dance group O PSILORITIS, which is the detail that makes this one: the youngest dancers set the pace. It starts at 19:30 at the Romiosynis and Kampou junction, stops at the Romiosynis and Old National Road corner and again in Agia Marina square, and ends at Platia Patitira. Free. Agia Marina is quiet by late September, and a procession down its main street with the season winding down is a different thing from the same event in town.
