Poetic Harmony: Chinese animation by Yu Jin and her students

Nine animated shorts by Yu Jin of the China Academy of Art and her students, with a Q&A. Wed 28 Oct, 20:00, Cultural Centre.

This year the Chania Film Festival has invited three leading figures of Chinese animation to town, and this is the first of their screenings. Yu Jin, professor at the China Academy of Art, presents nine short films made by her and her students under the title Poetic Harmony: a women's creative path and Eastern poetics. Animation is the festival's chosen bridge here because it travels across languages without needing much translation, so this is an easy one to walk into even if you have never sat through a festival programme before. The screening runs from 20:00 to 22:00 in Hall B of the Cultural Centre and is followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. No admission price is listed on the festival's programme.
