The Portrait of the Brain

A documentary that asks artists, not neuroscientists, what a brain actually is. One screening only.

Stavros Panagiotakis teaches fine art in Thessaloniki, and he went at the question neuroscientists argue over from the other side: is the brain just a container for memory and decisions, or can you map shapes in it nobody has named yet. He put that to a room of artists working in painting, sculpture, printmaking, performance, installation and video, across a wide spread of ages, and filmed the answers. The screening closes his exhibition Geogenesis, Imprints of Memory, which runs at the Grand Arsenal until the same day, so come early and see the work first.
