In the Sweet Waters of Wine — Limni Inachoriou

Kissamos grows the Romeiko that most people only ever drink in a taverna carafe, and this is the municipality putting it on a table properly. The evening is a tasting held at Limni in the Inachori hills, the village that gives the night its name, with Maria Manousaki on electric violin and Christos Perathorakis playing entechno cretan alongside it. A photography exhibition runs in the village's former primary school. The wineries behind it are local, Martsakis and Pnevmatikakis among them. Limni sits about an hour and a quarter west of Chania on roads that climb and wind, so leave in daylight, and understand what you are going to: a small village at the end of September, not a festival ground.
