Michalis Tzouganakis at Frangokastello — Eve of Agios Nikitas

Tzouganakis plays the football ground at Frangokastello for the eve of Agios Nikitas. €5 in, music from 22:00.

Agios Nikitas is the Sfakian saint, and Frangokastello keeps his eve the way Sfakia keeps things: outdoors, late, and loud. The Manousos Kallikratis cultural association has booked Michalis Tzouganakis, which for a village of this size is a serious draw, and the whole thing happens on the ground beside the football pitch with the Venetian castle and the Libyan Sea a few hundred metres away. Five euros to get in, music from 22:00, and it runs until it stops. Come the next day too if you can: the feast itself on the 15th brings the Nikiteia games. Frangokastello is a long drive over the mountains from Chania, so plan to stay or to be very late home.
