Vamos Sunday Open Market

A Sunday producers' and artisans' market on the village square at Vamos, in the heart of Apokoronas.

Every Sunday morning the square at Vamos fills with local producers, artists and artisans: fruit and vegetables, honey, eggs and cheese alongside handmade cosmetics, kombucha and craftwork, with a few stalls inside the building on the square and the rest spread outside. It is worth being clear about what this is, because the name misleads: it is not one of the municipal laiki street markets that run on fixed weekdays in Chania Town, but a smaller producers' and makers' market with its own character, which is why it does not appear on the municipal market tables at all. That also makes it the one market in the calendar out in Apokoronas rather than in the city, so it is the easy option if you are staying around Vamos, Almyrida or Georgioupoli and do not fancy driving into town on a Sunday morning. Runs 09:00 to 14:00; go early for the produce.
