Cretan Night at Vlacheronitissa — Michalis Stavroulakis

Vlacheronitissa is twenty minutes inland from the Platanias strip and about two hundred years away from it in feel. The village is known locally for boureki, the courgette and potato bake that is western Crete's great domestic dish, and its summer glenti is one of the better-run ones in the municipality. Michalis Stavroulakis plays. Twenty euros covers a full menu, which is the standard shape of these evenings and still reads as a bargain to anyone who has just paid resort prices down on the coast.
