17th Yperkopeli — Charity Triathlon at Agioi Apostoloi

An amateur triathlon with no winners and no clock, run for the Orizontas cancer charity. Kids race first, pilafi party after.

This is a race with no placings and no official timing, and that is the entire point. The Orizontas association has run it at Agioi Apostoloi for seventeen years to support children and adults living with cancer, and the day is built so that anyone can take part. The children's Yperkopelaki goes first at 11:00, a 50m swim, 2km ride and 1km run, then the adult Yperkopeli at 12:30 over 600m, 21km and 6km. At 16:30 the Anoichtoi Orizontes 5km power walk follows, where your five euro entry goes to whichever local charity you choose. Then everyone eats: the pilafi party lands on the beach with souvlaki, beer and music. If you cannot be in Chania, the e-Yperkopeli runs remotely from 11 to 20 October.
