Chaniartoon 2026 — International Comic & Animation Festival
The city's comic and animation festival turns ten. Seventeen days, fourteen exhibitions, free.
Chaniartoon has been quietly turning Chania into a comics town for a decade, and the tenth edition is the biggest yet: seventeen days, fourteen exhibitions, a run of screenings at the open-air Kipos cinema, workshops for adults and children, a one-day conference on comics in schools, and free concerts on Katehaki Square. The exhibitions are the heart of it and they all live in the Old Customs House on the harbour, open 11:00 to 22:00 right through, so you can walk in off the quay at almost any hour. This year brings Junji Ito, Marco Rota, a Greek translation of Jodorowsky and Moebius, a Mafalda tribute and a show about Gaza. Almost all of it is free.
